The Story Behind Platforma
Alex, 37, was a business developer in tech in Paris until February 2022 changed everything. He moved to Kyiv in May 2022 and simply stayed. After months of volunteering with local military NGOs, purchasing and delivering medical supplies to those in need, he realized the humanitarian sector deserved far better management.
The turning point came during the winter of 2022/2023 when Alex discovered colleagues were buying supplies for the front lines at local pharmacies rather than sourcing directly from medical distributors in Kyiv. A simple phone call could have secured larger quantities at better prices—but no one knew to make it.
This inefficiency revealed fundamental flaws across humanitarian aid coordination: erratic sourcing, procurement, storage, shipping, and distribution driven by enthusiastic individuals but lacking management, process, coordination, planning, and basic tools. Watching financial and human resources being wasted was deeply unsettling.
In June 2023, Alex founded the Doshka Foundation to address these gaps directly. What started as one frustrated Frenchman delivering medical equipment to Ukrainian military medics, hospitals, and rehabilitation centers has evolved into a network spanning Europe and the US. Running 95% of operations solo with coffee and pure stubbornness, Alex witnessed firsthand the coordination crisis plaguing humanitarian logistics.
But Alex recognized he wasn't alone in this struggle. Across Ukraine, hundreds of nonprofit directors and humanitarian leaders were facing identical challenges—the same coordination failures, the same inefficient procurement processes, the same lack of basic management tools. The problems he experienced daily at Doshka Foundation were systemic issues affecting the entire humanitarian ecosystem.
From this realization emerged Platforma—the comprehensive digital logistics platform designed specifically for humanitarian aid. Built by someone who lived through the inefficiencies it solves, Platforma transforms the chaotic coordination Alex experienced into streamlined, transparent, and effective humanitarian operations that can serve nonprofit leaders across Ukraine and beyond.
This isn't just software development—it's crisis-tested solution building from someone who personally experienced every problem the platform addresses, designed to empower hundreds of other humanitarian leaders facing the same daily struggles.
